Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

You can reach out through the contact page to schedule a free consultation or you can email me at alegra@chimajatherapy.com. This is a chance to ask questions, get a feel for working together, and see if this space feels like a good fit.

What can I expect in therapy?

Therapy is collaborative, paced, and grounded in relationship. We’ll spend time understanding your experience, building safety, and finding ways to support healing that feel meaningful and sustainable for you. You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin!

Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?

I offer telehealth sessions as well as limited in-person sessions in Albuquerque, NM.

What insurance do you accept?

I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico, United Healthcare, Presbyterian, and Medicaid. More details can be found on the Insurance page.

What if I’m not using insurance?

Private pay is $150 per session. I also offer a Reparative Sliding Scale, where those who are able to contribute more can help support access to care for others.

How often will we meet?

Most clients begin with weekly sessions, though we can adjust frequency based on your needs and what feels supportive for you.

What if I’ve never been to therapy before?

That’s completely okay. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. There’s no “right” way to begin.

What is your approach to therapy?

My work is trauma-informed, relational, and integrative. I draw from approaches like EMDR, IFS-informed therapy, attachment-based work, feminist therapy, and CBT, adapting our work to what feels most supportive for you.

How do I know if this is the right fit?

Finding the right therapist matters. The consultation is a space to get a sense of how it feels to connect and to ask any questions you may have. If it doesn’t feel like the right fit, I’m happy to help guide you toward other options.

Do you offer crisis services?

I am not able to provide emergency or crisis services. If you are in immediate distress, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

My practice is Rooted, relational therapy for healing and growth.

If you have a question that isn’t answered here, you’re welcome to reach out — I’m happy to help.
