Chimaja Therapy

Trauma-Informed Relational Therapy

Welcome! My name is Alegra Roybal (she/her/hers) and I am a New Mexican woman and licensed therapist whose work is shaped by place, culture, and relationship. My practice is inspired by the Chimajá (chim-a-ha), a plant native to Northern New Mexico that blooms each season despite challenging conditions, with roots in Indigenous traditions adopted by Hispanic settlers and colonizers.

Like the Chimajá, I believe healing is not about avoiding difficulty, but about cultivating strong roots. Strong roots in self, in story, and in relationship that allow growth to continue over time.

My practice may be a good fit if you’re seeking trauma-informed, relational therapy and are open to an integrative approach. I offer culturally grounded, gender-affirming care rooted in safety, pacing, and respect.

I accept Medicaid, Presbyterian, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and United Healthcare, offer private pay at $150 per session, and provide a Reparative Sliding Scale to support access to care. Sessions are available in Albuquerque, NM and via telehealth.
